Wow, did this ever catch me by surprise, all in a good way. I got this because 1. It's R.J.Scott, and 2. the series is subtitled Supernatural Bounty Hunters. How could I resist? Obviously, I didn't put up any resistance. This is the story of Micah, a vampire wanted for the murder of a human. He is being hunted by Connor a werewolf bounty hunter. Their world is so well done, that I felt like it really existed, that I could actually go there. Micah is looking for his twin, Connor is looking for Micah, vampire and werewolves don't mix, till these two meet. I was treated to a wonderful, push pull romance between the two as seen through the wolf part of Connor. Micah and Connor's internal dialogues would be enough for any book, but the race to find Micah's twin is page turning goodness. I loved every page, every word, every scene in this story. I give it a illicit love affair full of stars A decent read. Although I expected it to have more pizzaz for a series starter. :D It's a straightforward book. Could use a little more plot twists and deeper love connection with the main characters. All nicely wrapped up in the end (HFN ending)with a vague indication of the books yet to come. I am thankful though that as a series starter, readers are not compelled to buy the next book in the series because of a CLAIMED "epic" story arc *cough cough* (yeah, you probably know who I mean).I recommend this to M/M paranormal-shifter fans (who don't mind HFN endings)for light reading. :D
What do You think about The Vampire Contract (2013)?
