The Wallflowers: A Hunting Love Story, Halle Puma Series Book 1. (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

I found this one to be... on the like side of okay. There was Insta!Love! (tm) and sh!t was way too simple with mediocre world building and MUCH WAVING OF THE HANDS but there were a handful of funny one-liners I appreciated.HOWEVERIn my epic quest for SIMILAR TO SHELLY LAURENSTON. I was promised: "G.a Aiken is Shelly's second pen name and her dragon series is fabulous. Like Andrene I would like to find another author like Shelly/G.A. Dana Marie Bell is closest and ive already sped through all her books." This recommendation of dubious literacy swore that Ms. Bell was CLOSEST. Ms. Bell isn't even as close as Kresley Cole is and Kresley Cole is NONE TOO CLOSE. Looking at dear S.L. as the sun, Kresley Cole would be Earth, and Dana Marie Bell would be the OORT FIELD.That is all. With all of the shapeshifter and vamp books out there, it's surprising to me that this is my first feline shifter story. I loved all of the cat references throughout, it was a neat change of pace from the growling wolves. The Wallflower was a really quick read that dove fairly quickly into the nitty gritty of the alpha-male mating dance, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and well-written sexy read! There is a great cast of likable characters here, and Max and Emma had great chemistry. Of course, it's hard not to with a sexy beast dominating you like Max does, but I digress! I loved that Max was suddenly seeing Emma in a different light after being apart for so many years, and the way he stakes his claim on her was just plain HOT!! Emma was strong and determined in her own right, and she was the perfect feisty match for his alpha Puma. Max's reveal of his shapeshifter status and their whirlwind romance all wrapped up very quickly and neatly, but that's kind of a necessity with such a short book so I'm not faulting the story for that. With a bit of suspense mixed in for a brief but tense climax, I really liked this first book of the Halle Pumas series and I'm looking forward to reading more from Dana Marie Bell.

What do You think about The Wallflowers: A Hunting Love Story, Halle Puma Series Book 1. (2008)?

Such a good plot. It was too short though. I really wish she would have gone deeper into the characters. I felt like it was a second or third book in a series. Is it? I actually liked that Emma was honest and just accepted him. I mean she was in love with him all these years although she didn't really know him. I liked that she didn't become dramatic about the Puma thing. However, I felt like they didn't connect as well as I would have enjoyed. Max falling in love may have been fast but the author highlighted the important things he loved like her sassy attitude and humor. If it was longer it would have been a little more drawn out with their relationship. Still an enjoyable read if a little disappointing.

I love that she had the shifters be puma. I haven't found many with puma shifters, only a handful. I also liked the alpha power, which I think is probably a combination of how they present themselves, and pheromones their bodies produced. I almost gave it a 4 star, when she first shifted, because she was still in clothes, but it worked out so it gets a five :P would have liked more shifting though, only happened a few times

Great read, couldn't put it down. I cant wait to read the rest of the series.

Give 3 stars for the book but 4 for Emma. She made me laugh out loud. :)
