What an awesome readThis book had it all. I adored both the heroine and hero. The storyline was original and fast paced. What a great start to this series. I look forward to checking out more. Well worth its current price of $1.99. At 185 pages it was just enough to get you hooked and wanting more and I was glad it didn’t end with a cliché cliffhanger like so many series have resorted to. I’ve been hearing people rave about a lot of paranormal series out there, including this one. I am a huge fan of the author’s YA series, The Arcana Chronicles, and I’m a fan of all of the tension between the characters. Those books gave me so many feels, I could only imagine how awesome the adult series would be. I was in the mood for some good romance, but not in the mood for YA, so I thought this would be a good place to start, especially considering I think she’s an awesome writer. I enjoyed the novella and Wroth’s character. I couldn’t stand Myst at all. It was really hard for me to care about her at all and I wasn’t really rooting for her. I thought she was cocky and mean and I know she was supposed to be, but I guess I find it harder to enjoy a story with a heroine that I hate. I felt like Wroth could have and should have done better. Despite hating Myst, I did enjoy the storyline. And there was definitely steam. It was… well.. a lot more than I expected. I was very confused by the world. At first, I thought it was set way in the past, but then there were a few modern day references. It was weird. I thought that the world should have been built more, but I realize that the book was a novella and not meant to be a major story. Despite hating Myst and also being a bit confused, the conflict interested me, the connection between the characters was well done, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages. And it was pretty hot. I’m not sold on the rest of the series yet, but for $1.99 on Kindle, I definitely don’t regret my purchase. I would recommend the novella if you’re in the mood for a good steamy paranormal that is up there with the Black Dagger Brotherhood books. Honestly, with books like these out there, I have no idea why anyone bothers with 50 Shades. ;)

This is my 1st Kresley Cole book and I must admit I really liked it. This book introduces the Immortals After Dark series very well and makes me want to read more of it. I gave The Warlord Wants Forever only 3 stars because I found Cole's sentence structure to be too jumbled and/or out of sequence at times, especially when it came to dialogue. It felt almost as if the author was trying to lend more credibility to the fact that the main characters were from another time and era through speech pattern every now and again but not consistently and the 300 year old character ironically ended up sounding much older than the 2000 year old one. I found that this detracted from the wonderful spell the story casts all on its own and sent me crashing back to reality and analytical thinking instead of capturing my imagination every time. With all that stated I can still understand why this series is so highly recommended.

I should start by saying I **LOVE** this series. Kresley Cole could write an updated version of the phone book and I would probably pre-order it on Amazon, count down the days until it releases, and then stay up all night reading every word. That being said, this is the first book in her Immortals After Dark series and it is a great starting point. While it is a novella, it sets up the series remarkably well by introducing you to some of the opposing factions, recurring characters, and gives you a bit of background on everyone and everything. It also gives quite a bit of action, some friggin hawt schlexy time, and a remarkable amount character development - Myst is lovely and Wroth is intense. While they aren't my favorite pair in the series, but they're a great starting point and certainly leave me ready for more. Seriously, READ THIS SERIES.

A good quick read. Kresley Cole writes well and I would certainly read more of her works.
