The Wayfinders up until page 203 made me sing the ‘doom’ song in my mind for our planet and humans. I could see ‘us’ as caricature of a sick person who continues doing all the horrible things that make us sick with caption “I am dying anyway”. I felt like there is no hope for us but destroy ourselves with everything we call modern. Thanks to the last 20 pages of the book may be there is at least a chance for improvements, but I still not convinced. An amazing book that simply points out the absurdity of our "modern" culture while uniquely celebrating the beauty of so many other cultures. I have had brief chances to experience cultures that share deep sustained beauty and value, but Wade Davis has been able to experience directly and appreciate so many other cultures and truly appreciate and describe completely orthogonal value systems in terms that we can understand and value.
A very well written book on a very important subject. Loved it.
