The Widow File (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This book was an easy read that kept me interested and wanting more. I read it in one setting finding myself more intridge the more I read. I just couldn't put it down. The story had surprising revelations that even the characters didn't know about. I usually dislike the bad guys instead I fell in love w him wishing for a unite that was most unlikely. At the same time I fell in love with another character dying to know more about him. The ending left me angry that my wants were not met but curious about much more unanswered questions. I had the oppurtunity to meet the author and get her insight on the book which was interesting and exciting. The next installment will answer some of my questions so I'm excited to read my copy. Fast-paced decently-written thriller with a nice little twist at the end. Data analyst Dani Britton works for a suburban DC firm specializing in corporate investigations. She's in the middle of a project when she gets word that the job has been pulled: the client no longer wants their services. She's left some of her work product for this job at home, so she leaves the office to fetch it back per the client's request. Traffic delays Dani's return to the office, which turns out to be a fortunate turn of events, because when she arrives, the building is filled with armed gunmen and her co-workers are being stalked and shot in their cubicles.Dani finds another survivor on the roof, a colleague with the silly nickname of Choo-Choo, and together they manage to escape with their lives and the single bag of client data in Dani's possession. The next few days are spent ducking, dodging, and weaving all over DC as the two analysts run from their pursuers and hunt for clues to why they and their data have become targets.I found I quite liked Dani, although the "plucky girl-next-door" characterization was occasionally just a little too twee. And Choo-Choo was simply adorable, despite (or perhaps because of) his utterly ridiculous nickname. He is both more and less than his appearance, and his surprising past served him and Dani fairly well in their desperate struggle to stay hidden. All in all, an enjoyable few hours spent with a couple of enjoyable characters.

I picked this one up for a bit of light reading. It was a good airport thriller type book.
