This book sucked, sorry for the language but I tried so hard to like the book but could not. And because once I start a book I feel like I have to finish it I hated it more. The author who wrote this book I felt was a 14 year old trying to write a book for the first time and as she went along writing the story she would add more things into it but forgot to go back and intertwine into the storyline.it was repetitive I should of counted how many times griff said "it wasn't the right time." For heavens sake all I read was them fixing the ranch then the last twenty or so pages about the drug cartel which never got solved! Even their love scene wasn't great. The way the characters talk to each other was the way the reader understood their backgrounds which was an odd way for the author to do so. Like other reviews pointed out we learned most of the Information between conversations. Example the grandmother Gus and her granddaughter Val both know their past but the first chapter they sat their talking about it which was absurd ....I like being surprised and finding out why she was the way she is because of her past. I won't waste my time reading more of this author, but this was a terribly written book. I really really enjoyed this book. Griff and Val were characters that I could really get into. Both had pasts that still haunted them today, but they were brave people who didn't completely let the past rule their lives. Griff is such a gentleman, the kind that every woman hopes they can find for their partner. While not perfect Griff admits his mistakes, says he's sorry and works to learn from his mistakes. Val is an injured soul who is struggling to fully let go of the past. Thanks to Griff and her grandmother Miss Gus she is finally working through things. I like that this romance is one that really takes time for both parts to see and then they work slowly to develop it. Very realistic to my mind. If you are looking for a quick entertaining read then I highly recommend this book. And there had better be a sequel, because while Griff and Vals' story might reach a conclusion in this story there is more going on in the background that I would love to see what comes next. I agree with Kate's review... Conversations seemed too structured & stiff.

A good plot shot to hell by bad writing. What a shame.
