The author did a great job of making me hate one of the main characters from beginning to end: Gillian.. But her development of other characters was uninteresting: my feelings toward each was a mere "meh", and no hero to counter the antagonist Gillian emerged for me. I was left with the impression that Demas didn't know how she wanted the book to end, and thus, the ending seemed abrupt and forced. A book about a writers' group drew me in, and I was excited to read it, but it could have been so much more. After I initially read the last words I thought four star. But then after turning the light and thinking some more I decided to down grade to three stars. Spoiler alert. The end wAs vague, I read it again three times and am still not sure if he lives or dies. Then all those random inserts of the "writers works" I found it annoying , like the author was trying out different writing styles on us. At the end of the day there were to many loose ends. That being said. I did not hate it and enjoyed the story line overall.
What do You think about The Writing Circle (2010)?

Good read if you like to write and/or are a member of a writing group.
