The Young World (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

In The Young World by Chris Weitz, the story line is simple. Basically, all the adults and children are dead, leaving one species, teenagers. But, what happens without the knowledge of past generations or new generations. Will the change kill them or will they kill each other? Through the plot events, we see the authors message that without newer and older generations, it would corrupt society and would fear each other more than anything else. We understand this theme through events such as when they pass different groups of surviving teenagers. One group tries to burn them and another group tries to take their surviving girls to please the men or sell themselves in a desperate act of survival. An important quote from the book that reinforces the theme is, " We can just take what we need" on page 11. This is important because it shows how corrupt everyone became and that they don't have any rules or restrictions. They can do anything they want. This book is memorable because it has an interesting plot and describes everything vivedly. If the adults and children did go missing it is beilevable and possible that this could happen. It was also interesting because it had the characters go through unusual situations, such as, a zoo, cannibals, and a drumming group. at the zoo, They fought a polar bear and won even though they lost their friend. In a library, they were captured by cannibals and they also came across a group that used drumming patterns to communicate. After reading this book, I have to agree with the author that the world would be corrupt without adults or children. **Hey guys. It would be awesome if we could rate the book poorly so that we could the average rating of the book down to Pi. Can we do that? I don't have anything against the author or the book, but I'm just saying . . .Well, I already wrote a review of this, but goodreads hates me, so . . .First off, I won this on a goodreads giveaway and would like to thank the publisher that was kind enough to send it to me.I had written a beautiful review before, but here's a little angrier summary of my thoughts:-It's not an original concept-Donna is an annoying character and it was torture to read from her point of view-It was so freaking dramatic and overdone-Characters died before I grew attached to them-The "love triangle" was not believable. None of the romance in this book was believable-Put question marks after QUESTIONS, NOT STATEMENTS, DONNA-And Donna, tone it down on the swearing. I don't have a problem with swear words, but that's a little much-Brainbox saved this book from getting one star-And finally, stick to directing, Chris Weitz. Actually, you directed the Twilight Saga and The Golden Compass so . . .Just . . .Stop.

What do You think about The Young World (2014)?

Okay so this book made me cry. I finished it in one day and was highly disappointed at the end.

It's more like 3.5 stars, because I really can't decide between 3 and 4.
