This book is about a girl named Winnie who just turned turned 14. She lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her two best friends, Cinnamon and Dinah. Winnie is in eighth grade and is about to graduate from junior high. She has a boyfriend named Lars who she really liked for a really long time. When it was her birthday, she expected him to get her a cupcake. When she didn't get one, she was really upset. She was getting angry because she expected everyone to know what she wants. Even her own mother didn't get her a cake, but she received an iPhone instead. She makes a list about everything she wants to accomplish before the summer ends. One day a girl named Mary was shoplifting and putting the stolen objects into Dinah's locker. Dinah’s father wanted her to go to a summer camp that would teach her to be a leader. So Winnie and Dinah goes to a summer camp that helps baby turtles reach the sea. When they get there, they meet a boy named Alphonse who was handsome and had dreadlocks, caught Winnie’s attention. A woman named Virginia was the person who led the crew. She led them to a rainbow room, and to their surprise, Cinnamon came too. They were going to have an awesome time together at the beach. They meet the other kids with different background stories. Cinnamon was in a relationship problem with Lars’ best friend. Then she found James, a skateboarder. She was head over heels for him. Dinah really liked Milo, a nerdy boy with acne, but she liked him all he same. Winnie was having trouble with telling Lars about how she feels. She thinks she has feelings for Alphonse, but she wouldn't want to cheat on Lars. When it was close to the end of summer, she calls Lars and says that why she was acting the way she was because she wanted a cupcake for her birthday. So he begged his brother to drive up the Debuedu Beach, and stayed the last day with him and her chocolate cupcake.I really liked the way this book was written. It was written from a teenager perspective. She used words that I would've used as a teen. It’s more like reading a diary, which is a little easy of a read for me. I really enjoyed all the drama she put inside of the story too. It relates to my story a little, in some ways, but we’re very different at the same time. What I didn't really understand about this book is how she was able to accomplish these thoughts that are so relatable to American teenage girls. She’s such a fantastic author! She has another book later called “Luv Ya Bunches” and she uses her talents to grasp young readers to read her books. I recommend this book for girls about 14 and younger because it was really led directly towards girls like me. Who like drama and getting know know about girls’ lives in realistic fiction. - Mariama Of coarse, It was adorable! I am just so sad that I am finished:( I really enjoyed reading this and I wish there would be a fifteen sixteen seventeen and so on until she left for college or whatever she choose to pursue, but let's be honest these series are meant for preteens and early teens in mind as the audience, so sadly I don't think there will ever bee more books to the Winnie years:( Poo I am really sad that it's over now. At least the ending was adorable:):):)!!!
