Titanic Lives (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

I have to give the author a great deal of credit he has taken a story which seems to have run out of new angles and breathed new life into it. After James Cameron's movie one would think the story has been told to death. Rather than focusing on the well told tales of first class, not enough life boats and so on he provides a sketch of the passengers who both lived and died in the tragedy. The Titanic story is often about those key stats and hubris and often loses its humanity whereas this book does a great job of helping us relate to those people who died even a century later. Make sure you read this book if you like history! This book provides great detail about the people behind the development and building of the Titanic, as well as those on board on that fateful 1st and only journey. That provides insight in to the culture and class differences both in Europe and the U.S. in the early 20th century.Of course there are great specifics about the actual voyage, crash and sinking of the Titanic and some of the aftermath as well.If you love history, there's lots to learn. A collection of photos is a plus. If you aren't into a lot of details, this may not be the book for you.

This was so bad I couldn't even finish it. Too bad, it should've been really good! Disappointing.

A bit hard to keep track of all the various folks, but the sinking - how utterly horrifying.
