I had picked up this book because it was at a good price at the time, and I am always looking for new authors. I really enjoyed the book especially the main character, Kat Redding. Moore does a great job at building his world full of vampires, werewolves, and Purebloods, but I especially liked how he developed the Kat character. Kat is a strong female lead who had overcome some traumatic events from her past making her into Lady Death. In this book, she has to set aside her previous beliefs and work together in a common goal with people she previously thought of as the enemy. I really liked how Moore used Kat's past to influence her present especially with the introduction of Jonathan. The book is full of many twists and turns, and I look forward to reading another book in this series. Overall this had a great theme, if a little overdone. However, the best thing I could say about it in the end was I finished it in order to find out who was behind all the happenings in the story. From my private notes when summing this up, I wrote "Good story but some of the writing seems a bit choppy, with sentences interspersed in the middle of a thought process in a confusing way."There were some good ideas, including the uses of silver and the banning of silver in the world building rules. The ban was tossed in not in hit-them-over-the-head way, but matter-of-factly so that it was important. I enjoyed the origins of the main character, and even enjoyed the point where she relived how she became what she was. That part especially was well done, without being overly sentimental. Overall I will say that this story had the potential to be truly great, not just ok.Things that held it back, included poor grammar, spelling errors, poor word choice, and sophomoric reactions, plus illogical reactions, bad choices, poor thinking and bad planning skills. She trusts no one, then gives trust where it isn't warranted, leading to bad results. It makes you wonder how the character became a legend.

Not good. I should have stopped, but my compulsiveness kicked in.
