Title: Never Less Than A LadyThe Lost Lords SeriesAuthor: Mary Jo PutneyGenre: Historical RomanceReview Rating: Five StarsReviewer: Linda Hays-Gibbs Two broken people with scars on their bodies and in their hearts find each other and believe there may be a chance for happiness. This is a struggle through dark places but the goal is to live again in the light. Alexander David Randall sells out of the army to answer the call to duty as the heir to the Earl of Daventry. He was thinking of going home anyway so he is happy to leave the war. His Uncle was never fond of him but he doesn't want his linage to die so he urges him to take a wife, immediately. Julia Bancroft is a midwife that Alex can't get out of his mind. He determines he might check on her and see if she has thought of him. Julia is kidnapped by ruffians and is assured she will die. Alex hears about it and sets off to rescue her. The problem is her kidnappers were hired by Alex's uncle. This story is a long journey through two lives that were shaped by extreme cruelty and bleak prospects. The thing is how can love triumph over such horrible circumstances? It is a love story of epic proportions. I gave the author Five Stars. The characters were flesh and blood people who come alive on the pages. It was a wonderful page turner that was delightful.I heartily recommend this love story to all who love romance. Oh...If we could all have an Alex! Thank you Mary Jo Putney.Reviewer:Linda Hays-Gibbs I'm not normally a fan of typical romance novels, so I wouldn't have paid for this book or gone out of my way to read it, but I ended up reading it while doing a clinical rotation, because someone left it in the drawer, and I didn't have anything else with me to read. The breaks were enough time to get it read in about a week, since it's not a terribly difficult book. So.. It's basically like every other typical romance novel available. Manly dude with lovely muscled frame finds somewhat helpless (or appearing not-helpless on the surface, but underneath is emotionally vulnerable and helpless), petite and pretty female, entices her in with patience, charm, and wit, and voila! They end up having awesome sex, and falling madly in love with one another. Anyway, the main female protagonist is Julia, who is an emotionally scarred individual not looking for romance when it falls into her lap. The plot around her is a bit thin, not terribly fleshed out, and the author takes a LOT of poetic liberties with Julia's mental status and recovery, but.. It's passable. Her dude is Randall (aka, Alexander), who is also a tad emotionally scarred, but as always, a patient protector and valiant fellow. How they end up getting together is a thin part of the plot, not entirely believable, but hey, this is romantic fiction. The purpose of the plot is to lead to passionate, connected and intimate sex. Whatever the storyline has to have to make that happen can be superfluous, because it's not the point.Fluffy, rather poetic, and not realistic, but meh, that's the point. I didn't die reading it, so that's a plus.
What do You think about Toda Una Dama (2011)?
I really like this one especially some of the twists and turns.
