Wow. I feel like I just got done reading someone's first draft. This had the potential to be a decent idea, but in its current form just wasn't able to get anywhere near there. As much as I tried to find a reason to round this up to a two star, considering I'd just given a far superior book a two star, I just couldn't do it.So many errors. I know that no one is exempt from mistakes, but this finished product led me to believe that this wasn't even read through before it was published. Spell check is not enough. Plot development was also an issue. For the first three quarters of the book, it was very slow moving and not much happened. Then, all of a sudden, the storyline was neatly wrapped up. There needed to be much less exposition in the beginning and much more movement forward.Even with all the flashbacks, I never felt connected with any of the characters. We never really understood why Clint's family was so hostile towards Cindy. And personally, I didn't care either way. Clint wasn't really ever in the book alive, only in memories, and I didn't really feel like he was more than just a caricature of the perfect, loving husband. It was short. And it was free to me to read. And those are the best points I can make. This author has several books in this series, but with how it starts out, it is a definite turn off and I won't be looking for more. It doesn't appear as though the subsequent books are written with any better technique. Death by Honeymoon is a mystery and romance and is the first in the Caribbean Mystery series by Jaden Skye. It is a great book. Despite vociferous objections by Clint’s family, Cindy and Clint are finally married and on their honeymoon on the East side of Barbados. This is the side of the island that is the most dangerous but it also has the best water for surfing which Clint loves. They are having a wonderful time snorkeling, surfing, and just plain enjoying Barbados. One day, Cindy gets really tired after dinner and wants to take a nap. She plans to sleep for an hour or so and join Clint at the beach where he intends to surf. It is very unusual for her to take a nap during the day and to be so tired is something else that is new. However, they chalk it up to all the excitement of the wedding and the honeymoon. When Cindy wakes up hours later, she goes to the beach to find Clint. He is nowhere around. She finally finds his surfboard floating with no sigh of Clint. When his body is finally found, she is told he evidently hit his head on the surfboard. Although later, she begins to doubt that because he was such a good surfer. She returns home to hold a funeral for her husband and ends up at odds with her in-laws. Her sister, Ann, comes to stay with her. One day, Ann borrows Cindy’s car to run an errand. She gets into a wreck and ends up in the hospital. They discover that the brake line has been cut. Why would someone do this to Cindy’s car? After thinking things over, Cindy returns to Barbados to get the original coroner’s report and police report but runs into roadblocks in getting those. The coroner finally tells her, in complete confidence, that Clint was hit on the head but not with his surfboard. He was murdered. Why and by whom? Cindy is determined to figure this out even if the police in Barbados do not help her.
What do You think about Todesursache: Flitterwochen (2000)?
Without the grammatical errors, I would have given it a 3. It had an interesting story.
