well where do I start?imbactually confused honestly between how much I like this book and what parts of this book I don't like.there's absolutely no doubt in my mind about the fact that I love the setting of the story. love it.this could also be coz I like cooking and anything culinary always holds my interest.the plot is fantastic.the research on the quirks and 'zenisms' is absolutely brilliant. I love how Louisa has actually shown the importance of the relationship that exists between the culture and the cuisine of any place.that was a cracker. I also absolutely love the fact that the storyline is visible throughout the book and not lost along the way.all I could think about while reading this was Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation.hahahaha.its like that show came alive in bits and pieces in this story.now for the parts that leave me confused. for an intelligent guy who has travelled the world some of the things that max's character portrays is funny (in the weird sense). I understand that he is not ure typical alpha hero but a more casual friendly quirky funny guy but dude even in a serious conversation when the tension is up ten notches he says something that will make u wanna scream at him. but this guy sure needed a break man.I felt sorry for him at some part.he's completely misunderstood by everyone.somewhere its his own doing but dude as parents u just know the state of ur child's mind. that is where I felt he can catch a break. otherwise he is a great guy who I believe one will enjoy reading.jules on the other hand I just don't understand.like there's vulnerable and there's dumb vulnerability. jules is latter. at some point I sympathize with her too but somewhere she's silly is what I felt.other than that she's okay.then there's the parallel story of kane and claire.that also adds an interesting situation to the plot.all in all love the concept.love the detailing. could have avoided some bits n pieces to fasten it up a bit.but if u like cooking n enjoy things that are culinary, you will enjoy reading it.the writing is fresh too.it's got its moments :) The first part of the book was barely three stars, but the second half was maybe 3 1/2, so overall I'll give it three. This should have worked better for me than it did. I liked the story, but I couldn't connect with the characters. It was well over halfway through the book that they became more than one dimensional and projected any emotions. By the end, I did care what happened to them and wanted a happy ending, but it took almost that long to get there. This was my first book by this author and the first book in a series, maybe that had something to do with it. I am willing to try again because I am interested to see what happens with the other characters and to see if the author works better for me the second time around. I hope so because the covers sure are pretty!
What do You think about Too Hot To Touch (2011)?
Made it about 25% in. Not for me. H/H did nothing for me, nor any of the secondary characters.
