Despite some flaws, I liked it. There was quite a few happy coincidences, alongside characters and fairly long secondary stories introduced so that convenient solutions could happen. I also had this uneasy feeling all the way through the book that something horrible was going to happen to one of the MCs and while I think that tension added to the reading experience it also didn't make for easy reading. However I really liked that the MC's weren't perfect and made some stupid decisions. It added to the story and character development nicely. I enjoyed following their journey to a HEA. I cried twice in chapter one! That's how quickly and deeply I felt for main character. This story had so much depth to it. It wasn't merely a tale of two people falling in love. As we discover that Michael's deceased partner of twelve years had been secretly having an affair, I found myself wanting to hate Phillip. But as the tale progresses, I found that I really couldn't. Especially after the scene where he "comes back" to Michael and professes his love for his husband. Despite his faults, I believe he really loved Phillip and wanted to take care of him. There were so many examples of him doing just that. He was a bastard, but I forgive him. There were many sad moments along the way, like watching Michael realize how dependent he had become on his former lover and desperately wanting to get back his independence. However, there are happy moments, too. It was such a joy seeing Michael overcome his obstacles and allow himself to love again. I also found it very funny that Michael was a gay romance author. I wish more had been made of that.I also want to comment on the journal, but don't want to give anything away. Oh, my creys.
What do You think about Too Soon For Love (2011)?
3.5This was a sweet story that had you rooting for a good HEA. An enjoyable read!
