Tracker / Dogsong / Hatchet - A Gary Paulsen Collection (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
The Book:Deer Hunting, a matter of survival for the Borne family became a life lesson for the boy, John. Every year John and his grandfather go deer hunting but not this year. Grandfather is dying. John must go get food for his Grandparents. He finds and tracks a doe. When the time comes for John to pull the trigger he does something that helps life to flow through his own soul.My Thoughts:Gary does a great job in helping us deal with death. He uses deer hunting to bring about the lesson. Wolves is a parallel lesson woven into the seam of this book. I love the deeper meanings of "Tracker." It was a very good read, one that causes deeper thought.
I think that this was a pretty good book. It's about a boy name John who lives with his grandparents in the middle of no where. His grandpa finds out he is going to die of caner and this winter he cant go hunting with John. John goes out hunting alone for the first time in his life he finds a doe and try's to kill it but every time he goes to shoot he just cant do it he starts to track the doe for 2 days on the second day the doe is so exhausted that she falls to the ground and he goes and touches the deer and falls to the ground and goes to sleep. I would recommend this book to people that like story's about hunting.
