Piet Hoffman is one of the best characters ever created, I was with him the whole way. What a story! I wouldn't normally read a book about drug dealing, but this is only a small part of it. I could not put this book down, I read until the early hours of the morning, wanting and needing to know how Piet was going to survive. Not a girly book, even gritty is an understatement, totally gripping, savage, unbelievable! Loved this book! It deserves every accolade it's been given. Large as life characters, I just love Scandinavian writers, they know how to do it! I have listened to the audiobook version of Three Seconds. It is the first in a series about an aging, grumpy Swedish detective working on a difficult case where the other main character is a paid police informer. The authors are very effective in switching the point of view from the police to the informer, and the characters are very well developed. Although the crime being investigated is, initially at least, a murder, you also learn a great deal about the methamphetamine trade in Scandinavia. It is a well written and thought provoking book.
What do You think about Tre Sekunder (2009)?
I believe the film might work out even better than the book - which is a bit difficult to imagine.

Not bad - interesting, but choppy writing style and not particularly character based.
