I first read these from the Steubenville Ohio Library. I enjoyed them so much I had to buy them. First off understand the first six books have nothing to do with the HBO series True Blood other than names and places. seven and eight have a new writing style and TV show feel to them eight being the worst of it and why I no longer will read Charlaine Harris books. Now with that out of the way the first six books are very well written with strong imagery, well developed characters and a great story line. If you are a fan of vampire, alternate world and things that go bump in the night books then you will like the first six books.I do not write very detailed reviews because of spoilers. I hate when people do this to me. Deliciously fun reading! If you're a fan of the show, this is like a True Blood alternate reality: more fairies, more shifters, more Eric, and (in my opinion) a more classy (and more Southern) Sookie. And, if you aren't a fan of the series, this is pure fun! Just the right amount of mystery, scandal, heroism, fang and humor. Not to mention, a whole new perspective on the South and its gothic potential. The only reason my review isn't five stars is: Harris is a fabulous story teller but somewhat (how to say it?) simple in her style. If you're looking for a book with philosophical musings, acrobatic vocabulary, or life changing prose - this is not your series. BUT, if you want to indulge in something totally fun, clever and entertaining, this just might be your cup of steaming rich hot chocolate. If you only plan on reading one book, go for #3 Club Dead - early enough you don't need a bunch of back story, but far enough along that things are getting, ummmm, juicy!!
What do You think about True Blood Boxed Set (2009)?
I think I lose a few brain cells with each book, but they're a fun escape from reality.
