I couldn't remember why I purchased this and then remembered it was because it was an Amazon freebie. Yeah, there were sweet moments but I scrolled through big chunks and the style never made sense. It's told in the past tense, but given how it wraps up, I think it would have made more sense to be in the present. The main character specifically says he didn't think he should chronicle his year. What would you do if you had 12 months to live? I was inspired by this story and the way that Don decided he wanted to live the rest of his life. Lots of good reminder nuggets. I hope that I could have Don's drive and compassion, given what he was going through. Loved his list of what he wanted to do with his remaining time, bringing closure to some things and offering his time for others. The characters in the book were believable and an integral part of the story. I would highly recommend this book!
It was a nice story. Def some tears but an overall positive outlook on a grim situation.

I knew the plot of this story, but it was a bit too sad for my liking.

Just like "The Last Lecture", sad, but uplifting.
