Twisted Perfection - Ersehnt (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

4.5 stars. I wasn't expecting to love Woods and Della as much as Rush and Blaire, but I did, especially Della. She reminds me of Blaire in her innocent and sweet way, but her story is very different from Blaire's, marred with a horrific tragedy and a life of isolation that haunts her in her nightmares. I thought Woods was a great character through Blaire's eyes, but getting to know Woods personally was even better. He is similar to Rush in his possessive manner, but he's not a rock star's kid, he's a country club heir, so he's got a business sense and management personality. Della is oblivious to a lot of things, but she's also dealt with stuff that no one has ever experienced, and she is starving for love and affection. Woods' best perception of love is through his grandparents, otherwise love doesn't really exist to him and marriage is a business arrangement to maximize wealth and status. Della and Woods together is a great combo because they bring out so much in the other person, and like the way Rush was with Blaire, Woods finds himself digging deeper in himself and learning about Della in such a personal way that he is willing to take on her problems as his own to solve. It's both endearing and sexy, but comes natural to him. Woods may not have realized that he has a nurturing side, but that much was obvious when he took care of Blaire when Rush wasn't around. The problems revolve around Woods' family and supposed fiancee Angelina. Tripp, a character that keeps getting mentioned in each book, actually makes an appearance in this book and I loved Tripp. I know he will get his own story one day and I'm excited about it because from what we know about Tripp, he set the example in Rosemary Beach for being the guy who gave up everything his family was willing to give him just so he could live his own life. Woods has to face that same question himself, give up everything so he can be will Della or turn Della away so he can inherit the club he's always wanted. If I thought Blaire's dad, Abe, was a letdown, Woods' dad is evil. Della was the sort of girl that never got hugged enough but deserves the world and I'm glad Woods is stepping up for her. Another amazing story featuring some new characters and some favorites from previous Rosemary Beach stories. (I believe this one takes place in between books 2 and 3 of the "Fallen" series with Blair and Rush but I am not positive.) I loved getting a glimpse into Woods's character though because when he was first introduced in the "Fallen" series, I didn't like him very much. I don't know why but I got that impression at least. Now that I know of all the pressure and crap he had going on, I actually admire him. The way he defended Della and their relationship is admirable and instantly made me change my mind about him. I LOVE Della's character and her back story the most out of all of the females in the Rosemary Beach books. Her upbringing was horrific and can even be described as abusive yet she herself is strong and kindhearted. This does end with a bit of a cliffhanger but it is a necessary segue to the next book, which I can't wait to read.
