I first came across this book back in 2010 when I found one of my PG mates reading it. Out of sheer curiosity, I purchased the book second hand and started to read it. I completed the book in 2 or 3 days. For the connoisseur of good writing, the book has practically little to offer . But it makes up in entertainment value what it lacks in prose quality. The whole things reads like the script of a good Bollywood masala movie. Personally, it brought back memories of college days and I could connect with some of the characters as a significant chunk of the novel is based in my city. But however, the stereotyping of South Indians and blatant racism in the novel was unnecessary and highly detestable. I would rate it somewhere between okay-to-likeable especially after having read some of durjoy dutta's books. I started reading this book because my friends suggested me to read this book and they have said that it will be quite interesting. Before reading, first I saw the front and back paperback of the book, it showed that it’s a love story and about the marriage of two states. I like the way that author started to narrate the story to a doctor.Characters are quite interesting, krish and ananya were the students of IIMA. Krish attracted to ananya at first sight that too in mess hall, when she is arguing with a chef. They have become friends and for krish, he doesn’t have the feeling of friendship with ananya. He wants her to be a life partner and as ananya said before that she got many proposals at first day of college. So he tried to neglect her and tried to keep distance and at one particular day he delivered his thoughts about her to ananya. Then here comes the love between two and its quite interesting after the proposal of krish to ananya.Krish placed in city bank and ananya in HLL. At convocation everything went wrong with his mother and ananya’s family. Krish’s mother tried to change his son’s thought for ananya, but couldn’t succeed with that. He had a confusion in filling the city bank form’s location preference with delhi, where nearer to his mother or Chennai, where his dream girl’s place. At last he filled with delhi and Chennai equal preference. He got job in Chennai city bank and he moved to Chennai to win ananya’s family for his true love with her.About Krish’s love its really awesome that he is trying to get ananya for him as much he can. First he gave coaching for her brother for IIT. And he did presentation for her father, and motivated him to present that presentation by himself. Then he gave chance to her mother to sing in a concert. At last krish won his battle of love with ananya’s family. With the blessing of ananya’s parents he and his love fled back to his mother, who doesn’t like ananya, a madharasi girl little bit.Krish took ananya to his home and tried to win his mother by making her cook but it doesn’t seem to work and he made her to come with him for his relative marriage. There groom family made a drama which makes all of them upset. They have made the drama for dowry. Ananya, took a advantage of this situation and settled this matter and won his family and his mother.As the two family are ready for the marriage, but misunderstanding is a problem for any act, so they have broke up because of the family fight. Krish and ananya didn’t speak to each other for a month. Situation getting worse for krish’s health and mind. He came to Chennai to convince ananya but she is not in the position to listen to her. As he admitted to hospital for worse health, he finishes his story to the doctor. As doctor advices him to take care of his mind and think about the guru ji’s words, whom he meet long back, before the concert.A call broke his sleep, he took the phone with a half sleep. Its ananya, she told that his father came to Chennai to meet her parents and everyone was happy with their marriage. Then its krish and ananya’s wedding. After two years she delivered a twin babies. Happy ending!!!!! :) :D :) :) :) :) :) Sharing the girls dorm with boys and boys dorm with girls makes me think about IIMA, if I read this book before a year I would have prepared for IIMA entrance. As the books tag line says that “Story of my marriage”, so I think that chetan is a Punjabi and his wife anusha is a tamil girl. They have shared their room in IIMA, he have a live in culture before 10 years and quite interesting. About chetan bhagat, he delivered the different expression people which the reader can understand the each character. He used a “seri seri”, a tamil word most of the time in this book. And even the auto driver’s anger slang that too in tamil vulgar words , also in marriage chef’s anger slang in tamil vulgar. From this story I found that Punjabi cannot live without food, that too for a session. And they will have panner for all their food items. They wont respect tamil people. They need big amount as dowry for the groom.
