Flipping from the present time, back to the 1800's, the story starts with April Vogt, an expert on Continental furniture appraisal. April is brought into a Parisian apartment, which is a goldmine of historical furniture, knicknacks and a painting. Wondering about the provenance of it all. April gets wrapped up in the story of Marthe de Florian, a courtesan from the 1800's and the owner of the items. I really couldn't put it down.
