Undead And Unwelcome (Undead #8) (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

In this installment, Betsy, Sinclair, Baby John and Jessica go to the cape to pay their respects to Antonia, who gave her life to defend Betsy. The werewolves give them a luke-warm reception. Meanwhile, Mark is having his own problems with Betsy’s devil-spawned sister Lara. The story wasn’t as interesting as in other books, but I did like the two simultaneous plotlines. And as always, the characters made me laugh. This is book 8 of the Undead (Betsy) series. I am not into the whole vampire thing, but I love these books. They are funny, not meant to be taken seriously. This book had all that stuff - the vampires, the werewolves, and Satan's daughter.Betsy and Sinclair are called to the Werewolf Council after Antonia's death, and they bring along BabyJon, whom Michael can't see (head of the Werewolf Pack), and Derek steers clear of though he doesn't realize he is doing it. Things get sorted out in the end. While Betsy and Sinclair are in New England, her half sister Laura is back home, and Marc discovers that she has followers. She decides to send them off to do some good, because Laura is fighting against being the heir of Satan....so she sends them off to soup kitchens and the whatnot... Satan worshippers doing Gods work, you have to love it hehe. But then Laura goes... off her rocker? And things aren't looking good for Tina, who Marc can't find anywhere, and all Laura says is she's been taken care of.In the end, the book lived up to the rest of the series, lighthearted fun.

What do You think about Undead And Unwelcome (Undead #8) (2009)?

I enjoyed finding a copy of a Betsy book at Half-Price Books. She's fun fluff. But I don't understand the purpose of this book. It's so very incidental, a "day in the life of Betsy" kind of book. Nothing was resolved.Sure I learned more about BabyJon. Sure Betsy is more worried than ever about Laura (which she ought to be). Sure the whole werewolf issue is resolved (was it really an issue in the first place?) but what did the book actually do?It tied up some loose ends... yet I was left feeling dissatisfied. Shouldn't these loose ends have been tied up in other books?

This one was better than the last book in the series, but I'm still unimpressed. The early books were SO much better. And really, how much more can she add to the story for these characters? There is already way too much stuff going on! I tried explaining to my BF what was going on in this book, telling him about the characters and their relationships and such, and his eyes crossed!I do think Laura needs her own series though!
