This was my introduction to Eloisa James, the book's description interested me and the author was recommended to me before. I genuinely enjoyed the story and the protagonist was quite interesting to me. Unfortunately the plot was a bit weird, for lack of a better word. Years pass in the span of 100 pages and the next 100 pages take place in a matter of days. The story overall was interesting and The romance between the characters was fantastic. James was not the best love interest I have ever read and he felt realistic without being too annoying. But the overall execution felt a bit flat and choppy. However, I still found the author's writing enjoyable and simply could not put the book down once I started reading. I do believe this might not have been the best book to introduce myself to Eloisa Jame's work and will choose my next novel more carefully. Ultimately, if this book was one of her less popular stories then I think I'll soon be addicted to Eloisa James novels. I really enjoyed this book! I've always been a sucker for childhood friends to lovers romance. It's one of my favorite story lines in the romance genre and I think it takes a great deal of carefully crafted writing to make it work. What can make two close friends, especially lifelong friends, become more than "just friends" and see each other in a new light? Eloisa James has certainly pulled it off with Theo ("Daisy") and James!!!!
What do You think about Une Si Vilaine Duchesse (2013)?
These characters were annoying. Very meh
