Us Three [Library Edition] (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I liked this a lot even though it was both YA and menage, which is not my two favorite themes. But here it was handled very well.Of course there's always the teen drama that I can find a bit too much, especially Casey's naivete when it came to "the mean girls". But what really made this book stand out was the writing. The story was told from all three boy's views, and in very different ways. Casey was "right now in the moment", Nate told his pov when writing in his diary, and Zach when emailing with his brother. The three of them were very different, but they complemented each other very well, and all three did some growing up and became better people for knowing each other. Once you've figured the different characters method of communication (Zander tells all in e-mails to his brother), Nate fills in via his diary and Casey gets the real life scenarios)there is a lot to love in this book. After being put together for a French project, these 3 hugely different characters find themselves with one big thing in common. Read along as they form bonds and forge friendships and relationships they never could have foreseen. This is a book I would love to see ALL high school students read. And I personally would love to see where Casey, Nate & Zander go from here!
