As I read this, I felt like I was re-reading, although I couldn't recall the whole story. I liked reading about the main character's growth, and his supportive family made a change from the antagonism that I frequently see in other stories. The author's constant use of "for" instead of "because" distracted me throughout the book and gave the whole narrative an old-fashioned feel (not bad - just prominent.) Totally clean, very likable. A time-old story, prodigal son returns, but told very well and so it's not just like every other story about the messed up kid returning home. I'm planning on reading his other books now. I only gave it a 3 because it wasn't "gripping" but it was good and is worth the read.Adding to my review - not all of his books are clean. I read several others, liked some, really didn't like others. Very hit or miss, but all on a similar "life" and emotion and family and tragedy and choices theme.
What do You think about Villa Mirabella (2010)?
Just a nice story about a warm, caring family. Will try more by this author.
