Vittorio's Woman (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

This book reads more like a Mills & Boon 80s romance (and not a good one for that matter), so it is rather shocking to see it was first published earlier this year. The characters (if one can call them that) are childish, immature and insufferable. The old saw of 'make him/her jealous' to force a confession of love is copiously employed -to the terminal boredom of the reader- in order to compensate for the lack of some convincing narrative of mutual passion. By the way, I hope there aren't many physical therapists out there who plot to make their wheel-chair bound patients feel the misery and upset of jealousy, just because they (therapists)don't have the courage and the honesty to own up to their feelings. Both hero and heroine are supposed to be mature and adults but they behave worse than my 15 year old sister. And ladies, henceforth, carry your own condoms! - Slight Spoilers - Overall the story was ok..The story begins with Simon having been injured in an auto accident. He has lost the use of his legs and he spirals into a deep depression over the thought of never being able to walk again.Worrying about him, His sister decides to enlist the help of Lilly a well known physical therapist.Like I said, so far, it is okButThere are Two things that did not sit well with me through out this story:1.)Simon poking holes in the condoms, that showed a selfish and immature side of him.2.)I thought that Simon's recovery was a bit unrealistic or maybe the Author could have smoothed it over better. At the end of the story not only can Simon walk on his own two legs without faltering, butHe also picked up Lilly and walked with her.It just didn't seem believable, it was almost...too happy of an ending.
