Waiting For Rain (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Oh, I loved this book. It was just so sweet and real and the characters, all the characters had such depth to them you just couldn't help being invested in their story. The relationship between the two MC's Toby and Rain, was beautifully written and their battle against their troubled pasts, heart breaking. That they have found each other is just a blessing. This was funny, and emotional at times but never failed to entertain with every turn of the page.Set in a sleepy, or rather not so sleepy, English town and centred around a hotel and its staff it sounds, on the surface, that it could be a little bit boring, but read it and this town is far from boring. It is full of character and characters that not only make the story more entertaining every time you meet another one but also made me want to go and live there. I want to meet these people in real life, and they are real, they are so well written.Toby could have turned out such a different person because of his troubled past but for a very determined, strong personality and a very good person who gave him a break when he needed it.Rain is just beginning to pick up the pieces of his life after a bad break up and some pretty bad choices made in the aftermath of that. Both men have to overcome their insecurities and some very real barriers that threaten to keep them apart perhaps permanently. They have some very supportive friends, and some very entertaining encounters with other members of the town. There are some very hot scenes between the two. I think one of the hotel employees and a very good friends of Toby's sums it up really: "You're both pretty needy, aren't you? Every day, Toby?" So you're in for a wild ride I can guarantee. To add to the sheer hotness of this couple Rain has a pole installed in his living room for private pole dancing displays, only for Toby. What? Who does that? Rain Engels obviously. With Rain's total hotness and Toby's inability to back down in a fight, there are some pretty good scenes where their attraction for each other is very hard to hide from the rest of the world. Do men really go around battling with this sort of arousal all the time? Rain and Toby do.Needless to say, I enjoyed this story immensely and have read it several times since I got it. I would quite happily read more about these characters and their "sleepy" little English town.Is there going to be a sequel perhaps? Yes? because, just like Rain and Toby, I can't seem to get enough. I really liked the characters of Toby and Rain. Told in first person alternating POV's, which was a bit odd at first, but I thought it worked well. Both guys had some darkness in their pasts, which made them careful not to give their hearts, and the book showed a nice progression of their deepening feelings for each other.A bit too much insta-lust and too much sex. I will say that the sex scenes were very good, but wow there were a lot of them!I enjoyed many of the guys' various scenes with secondary characters, good friends, potential lovers, past lovers, etc. We got to see them and know them as pretty good guys, who tried to do the best by their friends and each other. I could have done with one or two fewer of the extraneous plots, but the pole-dancing scenes were unique and wonderful. I wouldn't have wanted to miss them at all. Lovely!
