My heart pounds nervously in my chest. I’m about to meet his parents! What if they don’t like me? As Duke gets out of the car, I rub my sweaty palms on my thighs. I wasn’t anywhere near this nervous when I had to meet Kyle’s parents, who ended up being a couple of assholes anyway. I get out of the car as Duke grabs our bags from the trunk. Oh yeah, we’re staying with them for a few days, too. Fuck me. The trunk slamming closed causes me to jump. Duke chuckles and comes to stand next to me. “They’re going to love you, I promise,” he murmurs and gives me a peck on the lips. I don’t have time to respond because the front door opens and a cute little woman is standing there, a giant grin on her face. She’s shorter than I am, and a bit round in the midsection and hips. She has short blonde hair and a pretty face. “Dukey! You made it!” she cries excitedly. Duke glances at me.
