We Were Liars (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I thought it was crazy. I mean, the fragmented sentences? Were they even necessary? But apart from all that, there was this certain pain in writing. The rich snobs couldn't even get their head straight. It seemed exactly like this movie The Uninvited, where the youngest girl was mentally ill and she burns her house along with her older sister. The only change was that the girl in the movie is put to jail and Cadence isn't.It was quite gripping actually. Esp the mini kings and queens stories which kept me on the edge. There was a heavy dullness too. Overall, I kinda have a love hate relationship with this title. This book was an enjoyable read. The writing style really bothered me in the beginning, but I was able to get used to it by the end. I went in to this book knowing there was a plot twist at the end, and I really think this hindered my enjoyment of the book. I went in trying to predict the twist ending, and some time while reading the first half of the book I predicted how the book was going to end. My prediction was right, so when I ended up reaching the big reveal I had already been expecting it. I can only imagine my reaction if I had been wrong, or if I had not been predicting the end at all. I usually do not like to go into a book trying to figure out the end, yet I could not help myself with this book.
