Weakness Is Not Sin: The Liberating Distinction That Awakens Our Strengths (2009) - Plot & Excerpts

I enjoyed this thoughtful book very much. I've been reading it slowly, hoping what I'm reading will sink in. I've had a frustrating several months where I've been constantly disappointed in myself and feeling like I was not "measuring up" to what was expected of me and have been desperately trying to figure out what IS needful and what is not in my day to day life. I wish I could say I have it all figured out now! This book was comforting and thought-provoking, but I can't say it has helped me figure out which of my shortcomings are sins and which are weaknesses. So I still have a lot of the questions I've always had--what IS enough? Will there ever be such a thing, and how will I know it when I see it? It seems all the people I admire, in real life and in scripture, are all tireless. And I'm not. What does that mean? Still don't know. But I have turned to ideas in this book when, on a daily and hourly basis, I see I'm not what I want to be, and trying at least to figure out if this means I am sinning or just weak. (But THEN WHAT?) Anyway, I did enjoy this and have lots of quotes in my quote journal. I was really surprised by how much I like this book. Based off the title, I thought it was going to be pretty "churchy", but found her to give sound reasoning that supported church doctrine (rather than just quoting scripture the whole time). Ulrich does a great job of getting to the point and giving good examples. This book helped me to learn how to notice my weaknesses as just that, rather than character flaws, while also helping me to see the many positive opportunities that my weaknesses give me.
