What World Is Left (2008) - Plot & Excerpts

Wonderful blend of fact and fiction. It gives information to what really occurred at the not as bad concentration camps which is not stories you hear much. Also the camp mentioned is not talked about much so its history and how it was used in the story and later in history is a nice touch ans fact for those intrigued by the time period. Overall enjoyed it so that I may remibd myself what can never happen again. While this was a good book, decently well-written and had a touching story, it wasn't my favourite WWII YA book. I did like how it provided a little bit different of a perspective - it was about a Dutch family who was sent to one of the "model" cities (ghettos). The main character, Anneke, was a 15 year old girl who told the story of her family's plight. Her father was a prominent cartoonist and used his talents in the camp in order to save and provide for his family. Anneke learns a lot about survival, hope, loss and life.
