Where'd You Go, Bernadette (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
It's written in a collection of documents style. Nobody would ever write letters that long - or take time to read them, sadly - especially not by hand but hey, the story would be much harder to follow if the letters where shorter. It feels more like I built my own opinion of the people and the story. I liked it. I will forget about it. I would not be keen to pass it on to friends if I owned it and I can't see myself wanting to read it again.Do really need another person telling you what the book is about? Probably not. So I'll tell you what I liked. I liked Bernadette and her daughter. don't know enough of the father to go either way. loved how the author made me take Bernadettes and Bees side and how I could smell the house, see the view and wonder what her problem with Canadians is... Happy book that I read in almost one go, that will not leave traces for very long. It did not rattle me, it made me laugh once or twice. I like that there are so many different reasons to enjoy a book. For me, I enjoyed this book because of the way it was written. It is actually a compilation of many emails, faxes, and short narratives, all from different characters in the book. Through these sources, the reader pieces together the story and also pieces together pictures of the various characters. The unique way of telling the story kept my interest and allowed me to enjoy the book.
