Wicked Mourning by Heather Boyd is an erotic Regency romance. If Jane Austen wrote smut, this would be it, a saucy blend of clever banter and steamy sex. Clara Blackstone is the pregnant widow of a philandering husband. She's been residing at the country estate of Reginald Moore, the widower whose wife was Mr. Blackstone's paramour. Clara and Reggie have maintained a platonic relationship for months, but their romantic feelings for each other are getting hard to ignore. I enjoyed the rapport between Clara and Reggie, and their longing for each other is palpable. There's not much that didn't work for me. At one point, Clara said the word "cock," which I thought was a reach, but I was too engrossed in the story to give it much notice. A fun, hot read! After reading the synopsis, it was my mistake on thinking that this was a real full-length historical erotica. To some extent, it was that, without the length. It's been a 2 days since I've read it, so I don't think I can write a decent summary, but even if I did, there really wasn't much to summarize - the synopsis says it all.Overall, it was pretty decent for a free read, I guess, but I was disappointed so I cannot really recommend it to anyone who's looking for a real historical erotica. It was more like a condensed HR. The author had a lot of story to work with and fails to use it all. I mean, the whole story takes place over a 24 hour time period...
What do You think about Wicked Mourning (2011)?
Way too short not enough of a story line, the summary was longer than the story.

I got this as a Kindle freebie. It was very short and not much to the story.
