Josh is on summer holiday with his mum in Pitmillie in Fife, near St Andrews. Callie is a local girl who knows the area inside out. They notice that the weather is becoming inexplicably cold, even for Scotland. Unseen by anyone, the sea starts to freeze and ice creeps up the beaches. Josh and Callie find the journal of a girl from the 18th century who talks about a Kingdom of Summer, and suddenly they find themselves thrown headlong into a storm of witches, ice creatures, magic and the Winter King. A permanent winter threatens unless they can help restore the natural balance of the seasons. Can they stop the Winterbringers once and for all?
