This the the 3rd book in the Darkest London series. The world is Victorian London with an underground paranormal element. This book focuses on Winston Lane and his wife Poppy. Poppy is the eldest sister of Miranda and Daisy who were featured in the first 2 books.I really enjoy the world building and the details that Ms. Callihan puts into the book. There is enough to really get a sense of the "rules" without beating us over the head with them throughout the book. I appreciate the fact that Ms. Callihan does not review the first 2 books in the series. If you want to know what happened read the books, and I would highly recommend both of them. This was not your typical romance in that the main characters are already married and have been for 14 years. They have been torn apart due to events in the last book Moonglow. In this story we see if they are able to work past lies, betrayal, and pain. Do they really love each other or did they love the life they had? As a old married lady myself I really enjoyed the twist to the romance part of the book. This is a really engaging book that has a complex story with twists and turns. There are many unexpected events and revelations that I thoroughly enjoyed. I read a lot of books and when an author can engage me and surprise me I know I am reading a very good book. it is rare that I truly dislike a book. But this is one of the few. The whole story gets lost between the continuous and forever detailed sexual interactions of the main characters. Don't get me wrong, I do read romance novels, some of them graphic, but this was to a degree where the real story got lost between the bedsheets. A shame, since I think that if the author would have focussed more on the story, it would have been a fanatastic read.
What do You think about Winterflammen (2014)?
I am really enjoying this series and this one is my favorite so far. Can't wait for the next one
