Interesting setting, it shows a world were fantasy creatures are real... and humans are not on the top of the food chain, but part of it.Michelle a consultant witch does everything in her power to help the police with anything magical, which gets her in all kind of interesting situations, troubles and out of the loop for a romantic life.Personally I liked the story and the characters, even if I felt some of the interactions were odd to me (but hey different world, with creatures with different takes on how everything works its logic, so I don't pester about that), still a couple of things feel forced or too sudden. In general I feel she needs to polish her style a little more, but otherwise I really liked the book and when I have some free time I will read the sequel which I already bought for my tablet. I really enjoyed this book. Fast-paced, lots of action, interesting plot. I thought the world-building was done very well. We came to know the world naturally without a lot of information dump. I would have liked to see more character development - we see what is happening but not a lot of the why. Also, it's obvious we're setting up for a series, but there is a fair amount that happens that is left totally unexplained. It's OK to have some mystery, but there is too much that feels random. That said, I did have a great time reading. The story captured me and pulled me in. I will absolutely auto-buy the next book.
