DNF - I really did try...I just couldn't make my way through it! I was so excited to start this book...it sounded like such fun. That was until I actually started it. "She wasn't as pretty as me but that didn't stop her from acting like she was." This is when the hatred started to begin. This is Jessie, the main character, talking about her "friend." Am I supposed to actually like Jessie? It just got ridiculous after that. I'm supposed to believe her graduating class of 200 high school seniors (ages 17-19 right?) all went to Las Vegas together. Just me and my closest 199 friends! Not only that, but somehow her friend convinced a waiter that they were all teachers from the high school. (Now we're not talking about 200 people for this dinner, just 50 or so from the sounds of it.) Of course, in this Las Vegas no one is ever carded, and fake IDs are just so passable. Oh you won $60k? No problem, don't need to check you're ID or nuttin'. But then again, I've never won 60k in Vegas, so who knows! (Rolling my eyes.) Rant over. I was really dissatisfied with this book. I was expecting it to be an action packed, romantic fantasy. Instead, it was a graphically disturbing sci-fi. Most of the characters were twisted and unpleasant. The plot was confusing. There was too much violence and too much death.Overall, I did not enjoy this book and now I am reluctant to read "Thirst" because I found this novel so horrific. I wish I did not read this book. This is probably the worst review and rating I have ever given to a book.
What do You think about Witch World (2012)?
I'm a big fan of Christopher Pike books in general. This series is strange but interesting.
