The prose was very well written. Loved the main hero and the paranormal world building surrounding his character. But his love interest? Well, he was funny and witty, but he was cast in a traditional, female, domesticated, homemaker role. In MM romance, I prefer to be attracted to both males, but a male homemaker didn't do it for me. I feel a bit hypocritical saying that because, in real life, a man with a broom in one hand and pot in the other? Can you say choreplay! But, no I didn't find this sexy on the page... I realized that I somehow had two copies of this novella and opened one after reaching a lull in another novel I was reading. I was immediately drawn to the characters. When I read a new shifter book I am not quite sure of the universe that it will hold. I was captured. It was not a quick read (about ninety minutes according to the kindle god) but I finished it in one sitting and promptly bought Wolf Howl, Book 2 of the series which looks to continue immediately from the last page of Wolf Scent. I could feel the loneliness of the MC, werewolf Kirk with his discovery of his mate, Leo. This confused and confounded him. He was determined to hide his wolf side which was ever so close to the full moon and goes to extremes to protect Leo. On the other hand, Leo played the wounded gay hiker hiding his attraction but not from some mythical mating but just from Kirk being hermit Kirk. I look forward to reading the entire series.
What do You think about Wolf Scent (2014)?
Ends in cliffhanger - that's a guarantee that I'll never buy anything else written by this author.

While not a complete waste, Not enjoyable enough to go to book 2 for me.
