Women Living Well: Find Your Joy In God, Your Man, Your Kids, And Your Home (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Be mindful that the Title of a book has never been so honest. I think that though the writer had all the best intentions (and her joy and faith in the Lord is inspiring) but some of it felt a bit... well.. phony. At parts it was purely a love letter to her Husband, which is cute but... as a reader struggling with real issues I felt she didn't acknowledge bigger problems. As a working wife in law enforcement, My relationship is less than traditional, and Courtney was not relate-able to me. (I have no issue with traditional relationships as all of the women in my family aside from me are homemakers) Not to discriminate, but I don't think that much of this book at all would apply or satisfy someone who is single or in a less traditional relationship. If you are however in a traditional Christian marriage like Courtney, I do not doubt that you will enjoy this book. It was well written, and always kept the message about God. (And I really liked that) Woman Living Well by Courtney Joseph is written more like a note from a dear friend. She's transparent and completely honest. Nothing is held back as she shares biblical and practical ways to encourage you to grow in whom God created you to be. This book totally hits the nail head on when it comes to our generation. Everything from social networking, blogs, media, children, husbands, the day to day distractions of everyday life is mentioned. The book opens up to a section called "Which Voice Are You Listening To?". Followed by four parts that have five chapters each. The Parts are; Part 1: Your Walk with The King, Part 2: Your Marriage, Part 3: Your Parenting, and Part 4: Your Homemaking. Those parts are written I believe in how you should rank everything in your life, Your God first, Your Husband Second, Your Kids Third, and then everything else. Courtney's advice is practical and she mentions numerous times that what may work for her family may not work for yours but to continually seek God in that area because He will reveal the steps you should take. I love that she constantly points her readers to the Bible!I know if you are listening you'll hear all sorts of sources and voices crying out to us to act or behave certain ways that are more socially acceptable in world and more than less not acceptable in the eyes of God though not in everything. This book is a challenge for us to rise above those voices and to listen for the call that God has on our lives and obey it. Through this book you most certainly will learn how to live well without worry and stress. I'm sure if willing to listen, the practical heart to heart in this book can transform your life in a huge way. It was convicting to me personally and overall refreshing too. It's not often I can connect so well with a book like this but I'm pleased to say I have! This book is written in a way that it would be ideal for any woman no matter what walk she is on. We all need a bit of encouragement & daily dying to ourselves and I believe you'll get more than enough in reading through Women Living Well. She encourages her readers numerous times to get a with a friend or a Bible Study group in means to keep each other accountable in day to day walks with God. I believe this book would be perfect to go through with a dear friend or a group and then you can grow even more from there with God and each other! Highest of recommendations!
