3 1/2 stars. I have to say I liked Cane much better in the last book then I did this book. I was excited to read the book about him after reading the last book. He was so mean and cruel to Bodie and I kept wondering why she stuck around so long. In the end I of course liked him more but it took me a long time. Bodie had such a sad story and did not feel sorry for herself, Cane had a sad story and spent most the book feeling sorry for himself. There was one time he was so cruel and she later just takes him back like he is doing her a favor. I wanted to reach into the book and shake both of them. Cane Kirk lost an arm in war, he works on his brothers' ranch and he is out of control. Drinking and carousing and busting up bars. Morena is the only person that can calm him down when he is on a bender. She is ten years younger, a college student and has been in love with Cane forever. Cane thinks she is too young. This book made me mad because Cane is such a jerk and Morena keeps forgiving him, I wanted her to give him the royal treament--kick him in the jewels, crown him with a sap and leave him to reign alone! She was a little too naive and he was a total jerk.
