This story was very exciting! Declan and Liadain made a very interesting pair! I enjoyed watching them spar back and forth with each other because they are both very witty and feisty. I read this book right after reading the first book in the series, and it stood on its own very well, but it was so nice how well it was connected to the first book. I loved all the characters so much, seeing more of them made me love this book even more. This book, like the first had plenty of humorous moments, as well as emotional ones. The dialogue in the book really helped suck me into the Highlands and the people that live there! I almost have to catch myself from answering "Aye!" when someone asks me a question. I just didn't want to leave the Highlands. Oh, and it was very easy to imagine Declan and his roguish looks. Victoria Roberts did a great job with all the characters! Her way with words makes it so easy to envision them and their mannerisms! I absolutely loved it! Another thrilling novel from Victoria Roberts. The second book in a series finds us revisiting the MacGregor and Campbell clans. Declan MacGregor would rather be anywhere by at court babysitting a Campbell, but that is exactly where he is. Sent in place of his brother he is there to make the King away of what happened between the two clans.Liadain has come with MacGregor to confirm the actions of her dead brother. Now with no family she is a ward of the court until the King decides her fate. However wherever she goes, Declan is there. It is most annoying. After a tournament of skill, Declan is awarded the Campbell lands along with Liadain hand. Forced to marry against their wishes, they must now find a way to make this marriage work. As tensions arise at court, the two will have to work with one another in order for each to survive.Definitely a good read. The hero is quirky and fun loving. Looking forward to the next in the series.
