Reviewer: AngieRating: 5 StarsLuke and Olivia are, now, one of my favorite book couples. Maybe it is because I grew up in a small town, as they do, but I could relate to Olivia's character and how she wanted to get out of the small town and see the rest of the world. I could also relate to the fact that that small town always pulls you back in. The love story had me crying a steady stream of tears on more than one occasion. Lucia did such an amazing job of writing through both POVs that you couldn't help but feel for both of them (and don't get me started on Nate). The hard choices both of them had to make, and then having to live with those choices for years to come, is something most people would relate to, in one way or another. I read this story in a 24-hour window, staying up way too late when I had work the next day, but I couldn't put this book down. I was shocked to find out that this was Lucia Franco's debut novel. She has hit this one out of the ballpark and I can't wait to read more stories from this author. *Given an ARC in return for an honest reveiw. This is a really good debut novel for Lucia Franco. I was interested in reading this because it is a second chance romance, one of my favorite themes. I really loved Olivia's character. She was an intelligent girl who had ambitions and dreams that she wanted to pursue. I applaud her for going after them. It was never her intent to leave Luke behind but she had to and that ended their relationship. Now she's back in Georgia and finds herself interacting with Luke again. As much as he resented her for leaving, I think Luke was just as much to blame for the demise of their relationship because he was all or nothing and then shut her out completely. Not cool, but I get that he was so hurt he couldn't handle anything less. I'm not sure what I think of Luke, I have very mixed feelings about him. I admired his tenacity to hold on to Olivia and his devotion in her that she was the one for him. At the same time, I don't think I understood him because I got such mixed signals from his words and actions. He obviously wanted Olivia back once he saw her again, whether it be friends or more or just to get her out of his system. But when push comes to shove, he pushes her away, only to back pedal and want her back again. I was so confused. Olivia is also dating a guy named Nate. Except for one particular scene, I really liked Nate a lot, he would have been everything for Olivia if her heart didn't belong to someone else. Regardless, Olivia had set out to do things for herself and to become someone who could be self-sufficient and she did all of that. Only her love life suffered and I felt everything that she felt. She stood up for herself even though one of her biggest issues was open honesty but I don't blame her for how she went about things. To me, Luke was the inflexible one, not Olivia. However, with everything going on in his family, Luke did start to lean towards being more flexible and by the end, I'm glad their hearts found each other again although I was still never completely sold on Luke.
