Penelope is starting school. She is excited and eager. She even knows what she will wear - her rainbow sparkly outfit! But her best friend, Tiny, is a year older and starts to give her advice about how to navigate the fist day of school He tells her what to wear, what to bring for lunch, and what to share at show and tell. His main objective is do nothing that would make people notice you. But is that good advice? Does Penelope take his advice?I love this story of a character with the same fashion sense as my granddaughter and the courage she has. A mighty-girl read for sure...but it also has a great message for boys as well. Penelope is super excited to start school, but her best friend Tiny worries that Penelope's style is a just a little too over-the-top. He advises her on what to wear on her first day, what to pack in her lunch and which object would be most appropriate for show-and-tell. When it comes to the big day though, Penelope decides to just be herself and luckily it serves her well.I LOVED this book! Starting school can be equal parts exciting and terrifying. The author includes some of the biggest worries kids face when it comes to starting school and plays them out to a perfect conclusion. The refrains make for a great read aloud. PreK-2.
