Yours For Eternity (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Three novellas in one. "Highland Blood" by Hannah HowellWhen Adeline Dunbar finds an abandoned baby on her doorstep, she sets out to find his clan. Attacked by a group of demon hunters, Adeline tries to flee her rescuer, vampire Lachann MacNachton. But escaping Lachann proves useless--as does denying the primal hunger he stirs deep within her. . .The vampires can eat, drink, and procreate. Their blood-need is a curse only hinted at in this story. What the author does is bring you into the lives of Adeline, Osgar her "found" son, and Lachann or the clan MacNachton. Osgar is an endearing, and very bright boy who speaks older than his five years. Of course, he may easily speak of some adult things but in just a few seconds he plays with his cats, or stones, and twigs as any Highland 5-year old might.Adeline is a strong, Highland lass, a Healer: which means as long as her village needs what she does, she is tolerated. A witch's death awaits her if/when she is no longer needed.Lachann is a Highlander from a very strong, and united clan that wants their numbers to survive. That is being threatened. Lachann is away from the fortress that protects the MacNachtons looking for "The Lost Ones" children whose parents were MacNachton. Unfortunately for many the result was a grim one."Taken by Darkness" by Alexandra IvyThe daughter of a witch, Juliet Lawrence has inherited magical powers--powers that could be quite useful to Victor, Marquess DeRosa, London's most powerful vampire. But that's not all Victor desires of Juliet. He wants the unpredictable beauty in his bed--and he is accustomed to getting what he wants. . .A good story but mostly forgotten by me by the time I reached the end. Juliet and Victor are on the fringes of the main vampires in the Guardians of Eternity series."Immortal Dreams" by Kaitlin O'RileyBeautiful widow Grace Sutton is haunted by recurring dreams of a past life and a mysterious, handsome stranger. When Grace meets Stuart Phillips, Lord Radcliffe--the vampire who has been searching for her for over a century--her sensual dreams soon come true in the most unforgettable way. . .A beautiful step back into the time of the Regency. Grace is not demonstrative in her thoughts; she has been doing her best to be a "proper lady of the times". She married, but now she is widowed and she lives in the same house as her over-bearing mother-in-law. Grace longs for escape, and it seems that her very realistic dreams offer this, but then she falls in love with the mysterious man of her dreams, and her thoughts, kept so long in straight laces and corsets, are yearning to be let out. Then, there arrives Lord Radcliffe and Grace discovers that dreams CAN become reality. This is a collection of three stories:(Will review the other two at a later time)Review of "Taken by Darkness" by Alexandra Ivy (Guardians of Eternity #6.5)200 years ago in London, the Maquis Victor DeRosa the vampire clan leader returns from Venice after a failed attempt to get the beautiful Juliet out of his mind. Juliet who is under the protection of a human witch and uses her to seek out magical objects making Juliet a very valued commodity. Victor seeks her out as soon as he returns, only to get more than he bargained for. Not having any friends, Juliet befriends a vertically challenged gargoyle who has taken residence in her attic. When our favourite character Levet is kidnapped, Juliet rushes to rescue him. Of course, Victor finds himself battling to to save the lump of stone as he can't seem to refuse his love. This tickled both my love of historical romances and vampire love stories. I enjoyed Levet's story in this and find it truly funny that he's been ticking off the biggest and baddest vampires for centuries.

What do You think about Yours For Eternity (2010)?

I enjoyed the stories from Hannah Howell and Alexandra Ivy, but not so much Kaitlin O'Riley's, the latter being a new author for me. Howell is someone I haven't read for quite a while whom I used to enjoy and I really should again. The highlander/beast combo always work for me.Ivy's contribution is a historical set in her Guardians of Eternity world featuring Victor, London's Vampire Clan Chief with a guest appearance by the irrepressible gargoyle Levet. Quite entertaining. As for O'Riley's, I just didn't like the story. Isn't it politically incorrect nowadays have the "hero" vampire actually killing the humans he feeds from? Aren't they supposed to only take enough and leave people alive and unaware? At least, that's what I think! :)

I rated the Anthology by my personal preference of the story because there were no complaints about the writing style and all three get 5 starts in that compartment. I am familiar with the first two and would probably check the work of Kaitlin O'Riely."Highland Blood" by Hannah Howell- 4.5 stars"Taken by Darkness" by Alexandra Ivy - 3.5 stars"Immortal Dreams" by Kaitlin O'Riely- 3.5 starsWould recommend, enjoyable read.

Good trio of PNR novellas. The third one took me a bit longer to get into, but it worked out.
