Zero To One: Notes On Startups, Or How To Build The Future (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
one of the best business books I've read, and probably the best entrepreneurship book I've read. Thiel has dozens of tips from his experience, distilled into a delightfully dense book. highly relevant to founders and investors of tech startups. his discussion of clean tech (and, surprisingly, Tesla) suffers from his lack of in - depth knowledge and experience in the area: he gives a sometimes naïve outsiders' summary.the discussion on the eccentricity of founders is also weak: more thought and specificity would have helped; the book would have been stronger (but possibly incomplete) without that chapter. If you want to build the future, then read it. This book is about how to take risks and build startups. It provides a completely new perspective on risk taking. The book stands out for its originality and though provoking questions. This is perhaps one of the most influential book on entrepreneurship and innovation out there. Even those working in large firms, or Fortune 500 firms, will find valuable insights on innovation.
