Decent story, and I will probably read another in the series because I liked the world McCray created, but there was a lot lacking. Reading this was like eating cotton candy; it tasted good, but evaporated from the tongue and lacked substance. Everything was too pat. There was no reals sense of danger in the book. Everything comes too easy for the characters and it was as if McCray was telling the story to skittish middle school children who would be stressed out if there was any conflict that wasn’t resolved in one or two pages. I couldn't resist the title on this one, and I'll admit it was quite engaging. Nyx is a half dark elf, half human, so she changes at sunset and changes back in the morning--and she absolutely HATES zombies, who are now invading her earthworld NYC. She, with the other Trackers (supernaturals who track criminal supernaturals) must find where these monsters originate--and stop them--to save the world. A fun read, with little depth of plot or characters, but with a fun twist on the fantasy paranormal worlds everyone enjoys these days--with language and with teasing sensuality, but no explicit sex.
What do You think about Zombies Sold Separately (2011)?
I really enjoyed this novel. I now need to go and find the others in series and read them.
