10 1/2 Things No Commencement Speaker Has Ever Said (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This book was very motivational, but very realistic. It put into words a lot of things that I felt like I learned in the two years since I started working--I wish I had read it before I graduated, not after! His language is very easy to understand--down-to-earth and matter-of-fact (if those two things are different). I think I agree that he was the right choice to make that commencement speech! I would recommend this book to everybody, if only to admire the way Wheelan accomplishes something difficult--to inspire us to be great while making us feel like it's okay to be 'solid,' with an honest acknowledgement of all life's difficulties. Read this on a round-trip metro ride today and thought there were some lovely pieces of advice for people about to graduate (it skews more toward college, but these are things graduating high schoolers should think about to). Stressed are the importance of happiness, of making real connections with people, and of taking opportunities (or creating them) to have new experiences (even if it means accumulating less wealth). Quite enjoyed this!
What do You think about 10 1/2 Things No Commencement Speaker Has Ever Said (2012)?
