Faster!” Bess pleaded.“I’m going to break the springs under my car,” the driver yelled over the racing engine.Ahead of them, the fleeing vehicle swerved onto another road and cut off two cars ready to make the same turn.“Oh!” Bess gasped fearfully, as the taxi driver pressed hard on the gas pedal, speeding past the car in front of him. “We’re going to get creamed!” She shut her eyes tight.Nancy, on the other hand, kept calm.
