My first of Sarah Sundin and an absolutely amazing plot. I like books set back in the days, and the story of the war made it even more real and exciting. From a world of wealth with no thorough knowledge of God and his love, to a world of simplicity and Christ's true love all meshed and obtained through a soldier. Many meanings can be got from this book. It proves to show that every sin has a price and sometimes we delay our blessings that are just in sight. Absolutely smashing! Although the bit of England wasn't dealt with enough like the mention of St. Paul's cathedral; the famous cathedral is that of London and Bedford's is St. Paul's church. I bought this book through my Kindle. I thought I was getting a romance novel with WWII backdrop, which I did. Unfortunately, I got something else with it: Christian proselytism. I don't mind books with religion as the subthemes. I don't mind books with specific religion as the subtheme. But this book was nothing but a story about how Christians do better because they have God in their heart and the hero was saved because he loved Jesus so much. And, speeches such as, "I couldn't go out with a person who was not a Christian," was a big turn off. I finished the book because I committed to finish it. But I will never read another book written by Sarah Sundin. I just wished the book would advertise that it was a Christian novel. I would never have bought it.
What do You think about A Distant Melody (2010)?
This is a fantastically beautiful proper romance story and I loved every second of it!
